			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A decent amount of time is spent in class going over notes and just the basic information. While there&#8217;s nothing inherently wrong with that, I&#8217;d prefer if we spent more time in class working in collaboratively, creating projects, or doing more &#8220;hands-on,&#8221; active learning. It is my hope that by creating &#8220;Science Casts,&#8221; or video podcasts of the notes for various sections students will be able to view these podcasts at home, allowing more time for other, more student-centered, activities in class.</p>
<p>As a caveat, I&#8217;m brand new at using this form of media in this way. There are sure to be some technical hurdles to overcome, and there will likely be stumbles along the way. Learning is often messy, and as I learn how to effectively and efficiently utilize this medium there will certainly be failures along the way. Failure is a regular part of life, and I hope you won&#8217;t let the little failures get you down. <img src='http://sciencecast.benwildeboer.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
